Balancing Yogi

Dawn was born and grew up in a small beach side community on the East Coast of Florida.  She was always involved in sports such as softball, soccer, and ran cross country in high school.  She loved to compete and spent many spring breaks and summers playing on traveling teams.

During her senior years of high school she worked full time and was enrolled in college classes.  Upon graduating she continued college courses while working and obtained her Associates of Arts Degree with a focus on Psychology.  At this point she had already been working in the corporate world in the satellite communications industry, building out a corporate IT network and then eventually traveling the country and relocating to San Diego.

After arriving in San Diego she joined a co-ed softball team, continued running and became fascinated with spin classes.  One of her spin instructors had recommended taking yoga to balance out the running and biking activities and in 2006, she attended her first yoga class at her local gym practicing 1-2 times a week.   In 2007, she was introduced to Bikram Yoga and began practicing on a regular basis, sometimes daily, or even twice a day.

She began taking workshops and master classes to learn more about the yoga and knew deep in her heart that she would continue to develop her knowledge and practice of the years to come.  She truly found the connection of her mind, body, and spirit.

In 2016, she decided she wanted to deepen her knowledge of yoga so she attended Hapa Yoga and completed her RYT-200 hour Hatha & Vinyasa teacher training.   On her yogic journey she fell in love with the practice of Yin Yoga and in August of 2016 she completed a 50-hour Yin Yoga Training with Bernie Clark and in September of 2016, she completed a 25-hour Yin Yoga Training with Joe Barnett.

As a life-long student, Dawn has continued her training diving deeper into yoga anatomy, tools, and techniques and graduated from Soul of Yoga in September 2017 with her RYT500 certificate and moved directly into the Yoga Therapy Program, is registered with IAYT with an expected completion of Fall 2019.

In her classes, Dawn encourages students to practice self-love, mindfulness with a focus on bringing balance to life both on and off the mat.
